Expanded consciousness

Chassidus has a concept of mochin d'gadlus [expanded consciousness] and a concept of mochin d'katnus [constricted consciousness].

When a person is in mochin d'gadlus he is happy, thinking clearly, and is receptive to see things within their larger context.

When a person is in mochin d'katnus he is lethargic, his mind is distracted, and he can not see past the circumstances that he currently finds himself.

It is a constant struggle for one to remain in a state of mochin d'gadlus.

It is a struggle to keep a smile on your face day in and day out.

It is a struggle.

A struggle against oneself.

While I do not disagree with your terse definition of Mochin DeGadlus-there is more to the concept than feeling good about oneself.

Looking to dialogue further with you on this with Mochin DeGadlus.

Respectfully,

Thank you for your comment. I realize that there is more to this concept, however in this post I was just explaining it in a limited personal way.

How do you explain it? I would be very interested to hear your view.

Mochin DeGadlus is presented in the teachings of Chassidus as awareness of Eloekoose/Divinity as one perceives the inclusiveness of various particularities within the creation rooted within the Atzmoose and Mahoose/Essence and Being of Hashem.

For example: Trace the source of vitality in the body via learning about the level of Eloekoose/Divinity know as M'malay Kole Almeen/The Divine Light that
Fills all the worlds according to each realms' capacity to receive and internalize the light.

After learning the particularities of M'Malay one starts to learn about Sovave Lole Almeen/The Divine Light which encompasses all the worlds regardless of each realms' inability to be conscious of and a vessel to receive and internalize this light.

Then one starts to learn about the Ohr Ane Sofe/Infinite Divine Light which encompasses the two levels of Eloekooose mentioned above.

Simply stated, Mochin DeGadlus is tracing consciouness from a lower level how it rooted in infinitely higher levels.

The emotions getting stirred are of a higher order with the effort of attaining Mochin DeGadlus.

For example, the chesed/kindness or ahavah/love generated by Mochin DeGadlus is rooted within the desire and delight associated with those two emotions rooted in Chitzoneuse/Superficial or External levels of Kesser or the Pneemeuse/Inner levels of Kesser.

The chesed and ahavah are not seeking to be diminished by enclothing themselves in lower emotive powers.

Rather they are seeking expansion of their previously self-perceived notions of limitations and boundaries.

There is a presentation by the Mittler Rebbe in Chapter 34 of his Shaar HaYichud/The Gate of Unification- which discusses briefly a dimension of Mochin DeGadlus from the perspective of beenah/understanding and Mochin DeGadlus from the perspective of chochmah/wisdom.

These levels are not connected with a meditative process.

Rather these two levels are connected to the physical maturation of the human brain from ages 6-9 and then from age 9 and older.

The Tzemach Tzedek records that in the Arizal's Aetze Chieyim/Tree of Life 21st Gate Chapter 1, Mochin DeKatnus/(levels of) Constricted Consciousness are an expression or quality of judgement which are connected to the name of Elokeem.

However, Mochin DeGadloos/(levels of)Expanded Consciousness are in their essence (expressions) of mercies and are connected to the name of Y-K-V-K.

That how we think and retain whatever consciousness we possess automatically connects us to various names of Hashem.

Once we become aware of this-it is up to us to figure out what do we do with this teaching to internalize the implications being prexented within our current state of mind and heart awareness.

May Hashem continue to Bless you and your loved ones!!!

Looking within the universe of Mochin DeGadlus we can find mini-universes within this larger universe of Mochin DeGadlus.

For example, if we contemplate on the meedos/emotions at the level of Yisroel/Israel unifying within the level of Leah/the realm of thought-
we can begin to reevaluate our emotions and how they are influenced and expanded by the thoughts which we consciously generate within our mind or are taught by other minds.

If our our thoughts are directed towards Hashem, Who is beyond the realm of time, space and soul-our thoughts and consequently our emotions begin to suckle from the spiritual dimensions which are above time space and soul.

See the Mittler Rebbe-Chapter 35 Shaar HaYichud.

May Hashem Bless you and your loved ones!

Concerning expansion of consciousness we need not look further than our mouth and nostrils.

It is taught in Chassidus that the mouth is the gate to the heart.

Speaking with emotion is rooted within the emotions of the heart.

The mouth is also the gate to the mind of revealed intellect.

The nostrils are the gates to the inner mind. To be continued!!!
