Blog Pressure

Anyone who blogs and posts on a daily basis knows that there is tremendous pressure to come up with new material. I am happiest when I have written two or three days worth of posts in advance and am off the hook from racking my brain for new ideas.

Blogging this past year has been incredibly fulfilling, namely it has put me in contact with all of you who comment on my blog and provide insight and encouragement. It has been fulfilling to know that there are others out there who can relate to what I write and who look at the world with my eyes. Blogging helps me escape the mindlessness of my life in the office. My blog is the one place, other than my home, where I have a voice that is listened to by others....and perhaps it is only because you don't know me that you continue you read my words.

As Pearl pointed out, blogging is an addiction, but an addiction with many benefits. As tempted as I am to walk away, I don't think I can.

Not yet.

Dear SJ,

You have an advantage in that the whole of Torah she'ksav and ba'al peh is open to you, plus all the later meforshim and Chachamim.

Us "music bloggers" on the other hand, have a much more limited amount of material to choose from - especially if you want to concentrate on authentic negina, as I do.

That said, it took the liberty to copy your wonderful quote about Music by the Levertover [below] and post it on my site, giving you full credit, of course! I hope you don't mind - and if you do, I will remove it.

Best regards,
yitz

Correction - that should be "I took" instead of "it took" in my previous post.

Yitz: I am glad you liked that quote. I have a few other quotes on music that I plan to post in the future.

Thanks for the link :)

You have a beautiful voice and I am happy to read your posts. Blogging is wonderful because you have the opportunity to share your thoughts with and come in contact with others that you wouldn't otherwise meet. Keep blogging, for all of your readers!

Have a wonderful Shabbos!

Thank you for the mention and specifically for linking to that particular post A Circle of Friends.

I feel often that I have more of a "relationship" with my blogging friends than I do with people at work, or some casual friends. The "addiction" part is not easy to contend with, but the "free association" of posts and of comments is.

I'm glad that our blogging paths have crossed... and I wish you and your family a good Shabbos.

Shoshana & Pearl: I agree with both of you. Thank you for your warm words.

Have a wonderful Shabbos!

Here, here.
I find that if I have 2 or 3 days worth of posts that I need to post them all on one day.
maybe we should have a virtual support group?

Hirshel: Yeah, it looks like we all have problems ;)

Blogging affects us all in weird ways.

I don't think there has been a post yet on your blog that I couldn't relate to. Your words always ring true. Re: the pressure - when I feel it, I take a break, don't write for a day or two, then come back refreshed....

SJ- Yes, please stick around! So many of us look forward to your blogging inspiration in the sea of...so many other, less uplifting, blogs out there.

I come to your blog when I feel like I want to read something worthwhile, something that will change me as a person.
