Seems both a more appropriate time - when we are Marbin b'Simcha, increasing our joy - and a more appropriate occasion than the arrival of some Pilgrims to Plymouth Rock, for 'thanksgiving'.

AS for turkey - Hodu LaShem ki Tov. Perhaps they took it from the double-entendre of both Turkey and Thanks found in the Hebrew word, Hodu.

Anyway, Baruch Hashem in Israel we are not bombarded by the "holiday season" of Thanksgiving and Xmas. We have our own Chagim season of Tishrei, and of course, the Pesach madness!

In any case, on RC Adar, sing a niggun of thanks for the deliverance of your family, Baruch Hashem!
