This is a very interesting matzeiva. Is it from your family?

When upright, the letter 'nun' can be seen on the left side of the 'tree and branches'. It seems like the artist was depicting that the main part of the tree was broken off (being the patriarch of the famiy), with the flower branch seemingly representing the matriarchial side of the family, and one branch coming from the flower line representing a male descendant. The grass seems to be covering the right portion of the matzeiva, which could reveal more.

A Simple Jew, how's that for imagination?!

Neshama: This matzeiva is not from my family. Unfortunately I could not locate any ancestral graves during my visit to the shtetl.
