Reward For Selflessness

If intention to perform a mitzvah is so important as to earn reward regardless of whether or not the mitzvah was actually performed, then certainly when a person sacrifices his own opportunity to perform a mitzvah in order to afford another the chance, the reward for this is far beyond our conception.
