Those flowers are ginormous...so incongruous to think of something so pretty in a place with such a sad and tragic history...

Beautiful !! Simply lovely !! Your pictures of your family's Shtetl make me smile !! I think it's wonderful that you want so much to know your family's roots !! My mother's people came from that same area over 200 years ago. They sailed from Germany with German immigrants, to the United States before the War of Independence. They were among the first to come to America, (the colonies at that time). I have researched them back through the Jewish GenWeb, and have had several very kind replies from Mangel families still in the old country as they say. Many have very sad stories to tell of relatives of our family line who perished in the Shoah. It made me think what it would have meant if my mother's family had never left there, would they have perished too? Well, anyway I think it's beautiful country and so rich in history, some of it very tradgic, but I'm certain, some of it very joyous too !! Thanks for sharing !! Elaine

Shoshana, MCAryeh, and Elaine: I appreciate your feedback. I am amazed by how many people like this series. I don't have all that many pictures left, but I will keep sharing what I have.
