Last Night's Bedtime Delaying Tactics

Mommy: It's time for night night. Let's go upstairs now.

Lil' Tzaddik [while walking up the stairs]: Juice?

Mommy: Keep moving

Lil' Tzaddik: Keeem cheese? [he likes to eat it by the spoonful)

Mommy: No cream cheese.

Lil' Tzaddik: Pickle?

Mommy: You are just trying to stall for time aren't you?

Lil Tzaddik: ~ giggles ~

Heh, that sounds just like me as a kid. I'd sit in bed and eat juice and crackers as slowly as I could. I wonder why sleep is so distasteful to children, while adults long for it.

YUP! Very cute.

I think it's because kids think they're gonna miss something, while we hope that we'll miss something...

We put my son to sleep around 7:30 each night and he stays up in his bed looking through books and talking to his stuffed animals to after 10:00.

Juice, Keeem cheese, and Pickle sure make a good combo!

Oh, that's cute! At least he's up front about it. A good sign.

I would have scooped him up into the air with a tickle, while telling him that i know you don't want to go to sleep, but since it's your bed time, I need to put you to bed. You can read for a few minutes and then i'll put out the light. Then I'd tell him everything is the same in the dark (while I cradle a stuffed animal under his arm), except there is no light. (and let him think about that one)

That is, of course, IF Mommy agrees with that tactic.

Mottel: I'll take your word for it.

Neshama: Glad you liked that one. I will share another cute story for you. Yesterday my four year-old daughter was crying because we weren't going to eat in the sukkah anymore..so what did we do? We ate dinner in the sukkah before we took it down and packed it away in the garage.

Jewish Blogmeister: mmmmm..cheese sticks.

The PT likes to wait until we're all done saying Shma and I walk out of the room.

Then she calls me back for something.

She's like a little Lt. Columbo.
